Question : cooking substitute for vegetable oil?
I'm making pancakes... it calls for veg. oil and I'm not too sure if I have any... It's snowing like crazy ouside so going to the store isn't an option. Any ideas or can I even drop the oil.... The recipe is here... http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,164,144188-254198,00.html

Melted butter or margarine .. or you can skip itall together. It wont be as fluffy, but it willbe just as tasty without the added fat!

canola oil, butter or margarine are all pretty ~.

Generally, I just use whatever oil I have on hand. I always use olive oil so that's what I also usefor the pancakes. Or, you can melt butter in themicrowave before adding it to the mixture.

Do you have applesauce, or butter, or lard, any ofthese will work.

in the batter you can replace the oil withapplesauce
