How Was your Experience With Home Depot InstallingSomething For You? - asked by bob r

While in the USA in February I watched tv at mymother's house. There was a special program (60minutes?) about all the BAD workers hired by HomeDepot. All the unfinished jobs and badworkmanship. The final result was : always phonethe Better Business Bureau in your area and getthe list of COMPLAINTS about that particularinstaller, FIRST. Home Depot isn't going to giveyou that list. And they aren't going to give youa second installer for free! - answered by: Trevor Trillion

my local home depot is saying it will be nextmonth. Is this true? Also, if I know how much themeasurements are can I take that and go somewhereelse to get carpet? - asked by KB

It depends on who they contract with to do theinstallation. But a month isn't out of line. Wehad to pay for the measuring so who you choose toactually lay carpet is up to you after that. Somecompanies promise next day installation. You'llhave to decide. - answered by: dawnb

Low es is better for the most part.Home Depotservice is not very good any more.Lowes has thebest close out sales since they like to keep theirstore really clean. If you shop at the end of theseason you can get extremely good deals on closeout building supplies.I picked up windows andstorm doors for $ 5.00 at Lowes b4. - answered by: GabbyGal

Question: #9: Why does home depot rip people off?
They dont tell you this but if you buy power toolsfrom them they are not the same tools as you wouldget from a supply house or someplace else. Ibought a Bosh hammer drill from there and itcrapped out after a few months. When i took it toa repair person he opened it and said where thehell did you get this drill the bushings and gearsare plastic. I ve never seen that on a Boschhammer drill. And the repairmans boss said thatmany companies make different tools and equipmentspecifically for Home Depot. And they are usuallyof lesser quality. That is how they pass thesavings to you. which sucks because i would bewilling to spend the extra 20 - 40 bucks for the"real thing" This explains why my shower head isleaking after only 3 months of use. and it wasnt acheap brand either. Home Depot is ok for buldingsupplies but dont buy your tools from there causeyoull be sorry in the long run.im sorry but thatis b u l l s h i t. thats called rip off.I cansee if i was at a garage sale or something but iam under the impression that i am buying a qualityproduct. They should tell you it is of inferiorgrade for homeowner use not professional use. Andwhile im on it their Ryobi and Rigid lines aregarbage. Ive seen first hand many people buy themand they crap out in like 3-5 months. They aremore like disposable tools use for a few monthsand just throw away and by a new oneHome Depotdoesnt make the tools but Home Depot "tells" themaker of a given product how much they are goingto sell it for if they want it in their store. Illnever buy a Dewalt from Home Cheapo thats justasking for trouble. The chucks on their drills isalways the first to go./Please dont tell me aboutthe right tool for the right job. I know all aboutthat. I ve been an electritian for a long time andeven had tool repair men tell me this fact. Lookgo to home cheapo and look at the serial number ona 18 volt drill then go to a supply house or realtool store and look a the serial number on thesame drill it will be a little different than theone from home depot. WHY? cause its crap. Justlike their faucets and other stuff. I dont evenwant to get into their crappy windows. Im justwaiting to reside so i can rip out the two s h i tt y casement windows i got from there and now theysuck. one already broke and when i had a new oneput it it was a different size. 1/8 of an inch tobig and Home Cheapo said it was basically myproblem now. Hows that for standing behind yourstuff. I dont have time to tell you of other crapfrom there. Lowes is really much the same.HOMEDEPOT IS THE BIGGEST RIP OFF ARTIST AROUND. THEYDONT TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE BUYING AN INFERIORPRODUCT JUST SO YOU CAN SAVE A FEW BUCKS AND THRMMAKE A FEW BUCKS. AND IF THEY ARE LUCKY YOULL GOBACK THERE MANY TIMES LIKE I DID BEFORE IT SUNKIN.IVE Bbrught back tools with a recipt many timesbut it was the Bosch drill and the repairman thatfinally woke me up to the fact i wasnt buying thereal thing. We as consumers shouldnt put up withthis practice. Tell Home Cheapo to suck it and toclean up their act. I hate them and the funnything is 5 years or so ago i thought home depotwas the s h i t. Now it really is s h i t . Theonly thing i would consider buying from there iswood and sheet rock. Because i can simply look atit and tell if its a decent piece or not.If iwanted to but a tool so i could return and get anew one every few months i would just go to sears. - asked by captkirk

The manufacturers of other products like vacuums, small kitchen appliances, small electronics do thesame thing for the discounters, like Wal-Mart. Did you ever wonder why the vacuums all look thesame, but have different model numbers and namesat the department stores? Carpet manufacturersare worse. As interior designers, we wouldreceive lists of all of the names and numbers theywere marketing the same carpet as at differentretailers. It is so that you cannot compare theprices and retailers who have the price matchguarantee rarely have to pay their 10% royaltybecause you'll never match the product exactly. - answered by: eskie lover
