Question : Price differences between american and canadian tigerdirect site?
On the canadian tigerdirect site, it shows a video card (the 8800GT) for 365.99. On the american, its 299.99. Just curious as to why it would be 66 dollars more on the canadian website when the canadian dollar is worth more than the american now (and this card was released after this happened). It seems like this site is still stuck on the .8ish exchange rate, but i dont know if thats the right answer.thank you

All Answers: Answer #1well this is the darling topic in the canadian media. There's a few factors. Odds are the productwas purchased months before the current exchangeincidents. The CDN $ has gone from about $0.90 USto $1.10 US in about 3.5 months, so prices willtake some time to settle when the dollar looksmore stable.Secondly I own a business thatoperates on both sides of the border and simplyput its a lot cheaper to operate in the US. If ilook at retail wages, min wage in Ontario is $8/hrand in a lot of states its $4-5/hr. If I havelower wage costs, I can sell for less. Not tomention there's no employer health tax, lessworkers comp in most US states. Also the US tax actis much more favourable to me and my ability towrite off leashold improvements on my USproperties, versus the Income Tax Act in Canada. - answered by CHARLES R
