Question: #1: How to find out more information about Sharper image clock?
My dad bought a Sharper Image clock at a garagesale, and is unable to figure out what makes it"tick". It looks like a purplish blue alien. Ithas a stalk like neck with a single eyeball on itshead. The digital clock is on its belly. Itseems to respond to some speech and noise, andsays things like "what did you say", and "what'sup", and randomly announces the time. Does anyonehave one, or know how exactly what all it iscapable of? I have written to Sharper Image ontheir website and am awaiting their response. Theclock is not listed in their online catalog. Thanks.

Alan: Stay away from all "air cleaners" that emiteven the smallest amounts of ozone. Ozone is nota part of clean air, it is a highly toxic gas. Proponents of ozone will tell you it is allnatural, well arsenic is also all natural but yadon't eat it on your Cheerios in the morning! Ifyou are thinking about something that will cleanthe air, pick a machine that doesn't throw toxicgasses back into the air. Look for an allergyfilter that is not made of plastic and does notuse glues in the filter itself. Also, be sure topick a unit that is the right size for the amountof air you want to clean. Don't look at squarefootage that the manufacturer claims the machinecan clean, because you live in 3 dimensions not 2!Figure the volume of the room (length x width xheight) and then take that number and divide it bythe amount of air the filter's motor can move inone minute (the manufacturer will state the air inCFM) and that will tell you how long to get oneair exchange. Shoot for at least 8 air exchangesper hour. The Sharper Image sells, or used to sell, a gadget that automatically cleaned eyeglasses. I've beeninterested in it for a long time, but wasunwilling to risk $50 on it, because I was warnedthat their most touted product, a dust filter, wasjunk. Does anyone own one of these things?
