Question : Should I get an REI Zephyr bag?
Ok, I'm really short, so I have a 15+ REI Zigzag bag, but it doesn't seem that warm (maybe it was when I forgot to store it out of its stuff sack) , so I was thinking about getting a Zephyr. Is it actually a 15+ bag?

You know, REI has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you don't think your bag is meeting yourexpectations you can return it for a refund orexchange. Even if it's been used.
http://www.rei.com/shared/help/returns.html?storeId=8000But it's really important to keep your baghanging or layed out, not stuffed in the sack. Andmaybe if the one REI bag isn't warm enough for youanother won't be either and you should try anotherbrand?

The temperature ratings on sleeping bags isbasically bogus, for many reasons. The first isthat each person is different. The second is thatthere are no standards for how to rate thesleeping bag. This means that you can't compareusing the numbers between brands and sometimeseven within the same brand. The military has theminimum loft for survivalbility, which most bagsdon't meet. You can also use a liner bag, toincrease the temperature range. A vapor barriercan make a big difference, but most people don'tunderstand how to use one and therefore makenegative statements about them (with any bag orjacket, you need to learn how to vent the item sothat you don't sweat into it, but with a vaporbarrier you really notice what is goingon).Another important thing to take into accountis the pad that you are using. Most of the heatloss will be to the ground, so using a thicker padcould be the solution to keeping you warm. Also, wearing a cap can make a big difference, sincemost heat is lost from the head.If you want areally good bag, which the rating are far moreaccurate, you could check out www.warmlite.com,but there have been issues of poor customerservice. Their bags are warm and comfortable. Alsobe warned some of the pictures contain nudepeople, so don't go there if you would be offendedby that.As was said, you can return the bag to REIif you are not satisfied with it.
