Yes you can cancel your policy, by notifying themin writing. You do NOT get all the money back -there's a short rate cancellation charge, AND acancellation fee when allowed by the state. Theshort rate is about a month's premium. Thecancellation fee varies by state, but is typically$50. Also, if you have 3 months with no insurance, you'll be considered high risk when you get back, and you'll pay A LOT more for your car insurancethen. I'd say, talk to your agent, but you AREyour own agent with Geico, and they're not goingto help you out. But if you have a LOAN on yourcar, your lender will have a fit if you cancel, and penalize you heavily - and might repo the car. And if you don't, you're probably better offdropping all but the bare minimum coverages, tokeep the policy active.

Answer #5
Most insurance policies have a provision in themthat allow for for a reduction in the insurancecoverage. I.e. if you are going away for 3 months, you can have the collision cancelled for thatperiod but keep coverage on for thieft of thecar. You can cancell completely and get a portionof the premium back. I would keep comprehensivecoverage on though.

Answer #8
Don't cancel the policy. If the car will beparked / stored, and you are certain that it willnot be driven at all while you are away, then youcan call GEICO and ask to suspend all coverageexcept Comprehensive. They may ask you to send awritten request to do so, but it will be wellworth it. Your policy will be credited for thepro-rated cost of the suspended coverages. Whenyou return, call your insurance company at leastone day prior to driving the car & ask to have thesuspended coverages restored. You definitelydon't want to cancel the whole policy - you willbe considered "high risk" when you attempt to geta new policy after having a lapse of coverage.
