The South Beach diet distinguishes between good and bad carbohydrates, and good and bad fats. The diet does not require counting calories or limiting servings. Dr. Agatston developed this diet and suggests you eat until you are satisfied. Dieters are told to eat 6 meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with small snacks between each meal.

First of all, you need to buy the book. Itexplains everything in there. But just a quickoverview.... There are 3 phases, the 1st phase youdo for 2 weeks. You can eat things like steaks,chicken, hamburger, all sorts of meats, cheeses,vegetables, eggs. No sugar or bread or pasta.It isthe strictest part of the diet. But in the first 2weeks you can lose 8 -13lbs. I lost 12 in my firsttwo weeks. Then after 2 weeks, you slowly startadding the good carbs. Fruits and things that arevery low in sugar. After you are down to theweight you want you can go to phase 3. Which iseating things that are low in carbs and prettymuch eat the things that are healthy for you. Ireally like the diet and you will be amazed at howyour cravings for sugar will go away! I've lost 35lbs so far. I would buy the book. There arerecipes in it and there is also a recipe book youcan buy. Or go to this website
