Question: #1: What is the mileage and gas price for Thrifty car rental?
Im planning a trip to Rome, IT and i can't findthe milage or gas price for the car.
- asked by miss_spoiled_hottie
About $1.34 to $1.37 Euros per litre accordingrecent reports is the price for gas. Since theEuro is right now worth more than the dollar, and2.2 gallons make up a litre, figure about $5.00 to$6.00 a gallon of gas.Mileage? Depends on thetype of car you are getting. SUVs there are thesame as in the US, about 15 mpg in the city, 22 onthe highway. Economy cars can do as well as 28city, 40 highway.Gas prices from: http://goitaly.about.com/b/a/257829.htm - answered by: saab_9_3 View All Answers (1)

Question: #5: Thrifty Car rental overcharged me!!?
Okay heres what happend, My boyfriend rented a car for me while we were in Orlando so that I couldleave. He also rented one of those Garmins (GPS)thingys. I returned the car in West Palm Beach, the guy looked in the car and gave me my receipt(which I now cant find). Weeks later Thrifty tookover 900$ out of my bank account, stating thatthey didn't recieve the Garmin back. We tried todebate what they were saying, but basically theyalready had our money so it seemed like they werejust giving us the run around. Later we disputedit with our bank, who gave us a "provisionalcredit of the 900$ back, the bank needed thereceipt in which we can't find and after severalattempts of getting it back from thirfty we stilldon't have. So long story short, the bank hastaken the 900 back, saying that we now have to gothrough thirfty ourselves, which we already tried. What should we do?
- asked by DonsGirl
First. Call your bank back at the department youused to dispute the transaction. Ask the bank forthe following, "a copy of any and all evidencethat Thrifty supplied you to prove that they wereauthorized to deduct $900 from my account?".Thebank should be able you to supply thatinformation. It may or may include the veryreceipt you are looking for but Thrifty MUST proveto the bank:1) you were issued a vehicle with aGPS device and failed to return said device;2) apolice report was filed claiming the GPS unit wasstolen from the vehicle;3) you agreed to the termsand conditions of the rental agreement by signingit. If they supply these three things, then theyhave what we call a "good case" againstyou.Second. You said they "took over $900 out ofmy bank account". This sentence implies that youpaid Thrifty using a debit card which is ahorrible practice. Don't EVER give any businesspermission to access your checking account for acar rental. That's what credit cards are for. You don't need Thrifty garnishing your checkingaccount without a hearing -- which is exactly whatthey are doing now.You have more dispute rightswith a credit card than you will ever have with aVISA debit card! Third. Send a certified letter(return-receipt requested) disputing thetransaction with Thrifty and also ask them for"any and all evidence that have to prove that youdid not return the GPS (Garmin device) and thatthey are authorized to deduct $900 from yourchecking account". Review the evidence theysupply for adequacy. If the evidence is indeedadequate, then you might want to see if yourboyfriend is selling some "Get out of jail free"cards because you are officially in thedoghouse.Final note, EVIDENCE is always king andyou are at a competitive disadvantage since youhave not retained the proper paperwork (rentalagreement and receipts). This is war and youdon't even have twigs! Don't become a casualty. Let this experience teach you the importance ofbeing organized and retaining receipts in a safeand retreivable place. - answered by: DaMan View All Answers (1)
Question: #6: for thrifty car rental shuttle, do they have a big car to fit all 4of us and our suitcases?
- asked by hello76ca
Definitely. I have used Thrifty (and Dollar, samecompany) at McCarran airport in Vegas (LAS) almostevery time I've gone there. They areexcellent.Their shuttle bus is small butdefinitely equipped to carry at least 10passengers plus ALL their luggage. If worse comesto worse, and the shuttle is full, another shuttlewill come to the terminal within only a fewminutes, so it's no big deal. They have plenty ofcars available. My recommendation is to reserve acompact car, and get that rate, and when you getto Thrifty, if they are out of compact, they willlet you take an upgrade. The risk, of course, isthat they might have a compact, but if that's thecase just go back to the desk and upgrade and paythe rate you would have paid for a biggercar.Their lot is great, there are several aisles, each one with a different level of car. So if theaisle of economy cars is empty (and they do losethose first) then the guy in the lot will tell youit's OK for you to take a bigger car or even amini-van for the same rate! You get to chooseyour car from the aisle that you are told tochoose from, or from the aisle that the guy in thelot tells you to go to.When the shuttle drops youoff, don't worry about beating the other peoplefrom your shuttle to the cars, because if theytake the last cars from your aisle then you get toupgrade for free.I'd recommend trying to get oneof the Dodge Intrepids, they are great cars, or ifyou have a LOT of luggage, go for a mini-van. AsI mentioned, it's possible you'll get an upgradeto one of these for either free or they may offerit to you for only a couple bucks more than thecompact car rental rate. You will be in great shapewith Thrifty at Las Vegas airport, they areEXCELLENT!!! Oh, check out the rates at Dollaralso, they are the same company, but sometimes oneis cheaper than the other. They both have thesame exact operation and setup with the wholecar-choosing and upgrade situation. - answered by: krikors_lamb View All Answers (3)

Question: #8: Does anyone know how close Thrifty car rentals is from the cruise terminal in Georgetown, GrandCayman?
- asked by Temple
Thrifty as at the airport, about a 15 minute ridefrom the pier. Forget about renting a car for the8 hours your ship will be inport. You can easilyget cabs to take you to any part of the island. However, if you insist on getting a car, make surewhich currency the price is quoted in. Caymandollars are about 1 equals US$ 1.20 so the "40dollars" quote really costs US$48. - answered by: traveler View All Answers (3)
