Question : Does anyone know how close Thrifty car rentals is from the cruise terminal in Georgetown, Grand Cayman?

All Answers: Answer #1The only Thrifty Car Rental, I believe, is at the Georgetown International Airport. As the peopleat the Purser's Information Desk to be sure. :) Bevery careful when renting a car in a foreignplace! Have fun!!

Just looked it up on the Thrifty website. It saysthe rental office is at the airport, which is notat all convenient to the cruise docks.I suggestyou go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards",then go to "Ports of Call" and "Grand Cayman". You'll find info there about which car rentalcompanies are close to the dock andreliable.Unless you're going to an out-of-the-wayspot [like Rum Point], you may not want to rent acar. Most tourist spots are easily accessible bycab or bus, driving is on the "wrong" side of theroad, and traffic will most likely be heavy whencruise ships are in port [especially if there aremore than 2-3 ships]. You have to allow a lot oftime to pick up/return the car, leaving plenty oftime to get back before the last tender leaves thedock.

Thrifty as at the airport, about a 15 minute ridefrom the pier. Forget about renting a car for the8 hours your ship will be inport. You can easilyget cabs to take you to any part of the island. However, if you insist on getting a car, make surewhich currency the price is quoted in. Caymandollars are about 1 equals US$ 1.20 so the "40dollars" quote really costs US$48.
