Waterford Crystal and Galway Crystal are twodifferent companies. Waterford Crystal is alsoknown as 'Waterford Wedgwood' since the Wedgwoodcompany took it over in 1986 and their trademarkis a Seahorse design. Galway Crystal is cheaperthan Waterford crystal. It is a good quality andtheir designs tend to be more traditional withengravings of Irish symbols. - answered by: alpha View All Answers (3)

Let me guess: One of those useless wedding gifts, right? Take them to a Waterford dealer. They areusually sold at department stores or jewelers. Ortry looking up your item in eBay. See if anyoneis selling outright or has a reserve price. Thatway you will have an idea of how much to expect toget paid for them. - answered by: anon View All Answers (3)
Question: #6: how to tell genuine waterford crystal?
have come into a number of crystal glassware pieces. they are very ornate and very heavy. howcan piece be authenticated. thanks
- asked by Thomas F
some waterford pieces have a tiny etched name onthe bottom that says 'waterford' and it can beseen clearly with a magnifying glass. waterfordis heavy, yes, and the edges of the cuts in theglass are firm, not sharp, but not blunt either. (actually they now are, older pieces are muchsharper) other types of glass that are as youdescribe are baccarat, and fine cut crystal warefrom europe and north america. you can try thisat your computer, go to ebay.com and type inwaterford and see if any of the pictures of theglassware for sale match any of your pieces, ifnot type in crystal and repeat! have fun! - answered by: shorty View All Answers (3)

Question: #9: How far is the Waterford Crystal Facctory from where crusie ships dock in Waterford?
- asked by Ernest H
In 1783, businessmen George and William Penrosefounded the Waterford Glass House in this busyport city about two hours south of Dublin. Using asecret process, the Penroses mingled minerals andsand to create crystal that soon became the envyof Europe. Nevertheless, in 1851, despite awardsand acclaim, heavy taxes forced the Waterfordfactory to close. In 1947, Irish officialsresurrected the company, which today is thelargest producer of hand-crafted crystal in theworld. To see how it's done, take a tour ofWaterford's historic factory, which is home tosome of glassmaking's finest craftsmen. If youlike what you see, pick up a few goblets at thefactory story. But don't worry about losing yourpurchase to the less than tender care of airlinebaggage handlers: the gift shop will ship it homefor you -- and they guarantee that your crystalwill arrive just as you bought it, or they'llreplace it. Question: #10: How do I clean waterford crystal vases?
My crystal vases are cloudy and I cannot get them clean!
- asked by Aunt Hope
Try vinegar.Cloudy crystal usually means that theywere washed in a soap that has too much alkali-youDIDN'T put them in the dishwasher did you??? Ifyou did, then it's over. Dishwasher soap is waytoo harsh for crystal. - answered by: tvlscat@flash.net View All Answers (1)
